The food we eat has a huge impact on how we feel and function throughout the day. It’s a no brainer that you have to eat the best food for digestion to ensure you are active throughout the day and feel good about yourself. You can include the following 10 foods in your diet to make a healthy change in your life.

 

  • Leafy greens: 

 

Leafy greens are hands down the best food for digestion out there. It’s a good idea to include these in your diet at least three to four times a week. These include herbs, spinach, and kale. These are a healthy source of vitamins and keep the gut running smoothly.

 

  • Whole grains

 

Whole grains are a very good source of fiber. They include Vitamin B, phytonutrients, and certain minerals that make them the best food for digestion. They are particularly best for people that have high blood pressure and diabetes and are also good when you are trying to lose weight.

 

  • Yogurt

 

Yogurt is a superfood and rightly so. It is rich in calcium and probiotics. It helps in filling you up so you don’t overeat later. Yogurt is considered the best food for digestion because it protects your gut health from bacterial attacks and also helps relieve diarrhea and constipation. Make sure to include yogurt as a snack or use it in your breakfast at least 4 times a week.

 

  • Berries

 

There is a reason why all fitness bloggers and trainers are seen drinking berry smoothies and eating them whole. Berries are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that are the best food for digestion. Berries make your skin glow, they are low on calories, and they help wash out the harmful toxins in your gut. You can include them in your breakfast or make a smoothie for a snack

 

  • Sweet Potatoes 

 

If you want to enjoy potatoes, we suggest you go with this member of the potato family. Sweet potatoes are low in calories with a boost of potassium and Vitamin A. If you are on a diet and looking for the best food for digestion or something sweet, you can just cube these up and bake them for a super healthy snack.

 

  • Nuts & Seeds

 

Nuts are a healthy source of fatty acids and Omega 3. These also keep your gut active and full if you are trying to lose some extra pounds. You can include a teaspoon of flaxseed and other seeds in your diet for an energy boost and use other nuts as a snack during tea time.

 

  • Cruciferous vegetables

 

This includes cabbage, broccoli, and radishes, etc. These are the best food for digestion and packed with vitamins and phytonutrients to give your body a healthy boost without the carbs. These vegetables have a good amount of fiber that helps prevent constipation. It is a good idea to use these at least thrice a week.

 

  • Beans

 

These are both a vegetable and protein. This tells you what a nutrition powerhouse beans are. They are the best food for digestion because they are packed with fiber and protein. They are great for people looking to lose weight or just include a healthy source of protein in their diet other than meat.

 

  • Fruits: 

 

Who can forget about fruits? They are an excellent source of natural sugars that help curb craving for artificial sugars which often clog up the digestive system. Fruits also have a lot of water content that helps in meeting the hydration goals in your diet. Each kind of fruit has its own nutritional value with vitamins and minerals. It is always a good idea to include a bowl of seasonal fruits in your daily diet.

 

 

  • Water

 

 

Water is a critical food source. It is the best food for digestion in all aspects. It helps keep the gut healthy. It prevents bloating and dehydration. Water helps in digesting all other foods and washing out the toxins in your body. It is important for both brain and body function. You should have at least 8 glasses of water in a day.

 

We are what we eat. It is important for you to consult a nutritionist, discuss your needs and pains, and get on a diet/health plan that suits your goals. It is equally important to be mindful of what you are putting in your body. Avoid processed foods. Don’t drink fizzy sodas or drinks. Avoid binging on sugar and always make your own snacks instead of eating something packed and picked off a shelf. Choose the best food for digestion. These small habits will do wonders for your health.
