We all know that the COVD-19 virus is spread when the respiratory droplets from an infected person get into our mouth, nose, eyes, or ears. The entire world has mandated to observe social distancing for at least one meter to avoid these droplets from getting to our bodies. Quarantine is also imposed and an order to stay at home was put in place.
Even if we are properly observing the health protocols at home, there is still a small chance that the virus can infiltrate our home. Putting our family members at risk during this time of uncertainty is never an option.
The virus can stay on surfaces for several days, that is why we need to make sure that we keep our home clean and safe from any germs and viruses.
Observe social distancing and wear a mask in public places. Keep a distance of at least 1 meter from people when you are going outside your home. Wear a mask that is suitable to protect you from inhaling any respiratory droplets, and avoid your own roplets to reach other people.
Wash your hands more frequently. Washing your hands properly means doing it with soap and water for at least 30 seconds.
You also need to thoroughly wash it and allow soap bubbles to form foam all over your hand to wash away the heavy particles of viruses. Make sure to wash your hands after blowing your nose, sneezing into a tissue, or when you are using or touching any surface when in public places.
Apply hand sanitizer or spray alcohol to your hands after washing. Cover all parts and rub your hands together for 30 seconds until your hands are dry.
Clean around the house. Make it a practice to disinfect and clean the surfaces of your home as regularly as possible.
Wear gloves when you are cleaning your surfaces to ensure your hands are not potentially contracting the virus when you touch on those surfaces. Make sure you are able to disinfect the surfaces that are regularly being touched by your family members – door handles, tables, kitchen and bathroom surfaces, toilets, light switches, mobile phones and gadgets, even toys and game controllers.
Clean dry surfaces with soap or detergent and water. You can also use disinfectants with alcohol or bleach. In some cases, there are places that you cannot easily reach and clean. There are also spots where stains do not easily get removed.
In most cases like this, mold growth may likely happen. The presence of mold at home may compromise your family’s respiratory health, making you more vulnerable to infections. There are home remedies on how you can remove and avoid mold from growing. However, if the task is too hard or big for your family, you can always call a professional mold remediation Tampa to do it for you.
Clean your clothes and do your laundry properly. Although it is still unclear how long the COVID-19 can remain in the fabric, there are still clothing articles that have plastic or metallic materials where the virus can survive for a few hours to a few days.
Use common sense and exercise caution when you are taking off your clothes before throwing them to the hamper. It is recommended that you immediately wash your clothes when you return home after being in the supermarket to buy home supplies.
Clean your towels and bedsheets regularly. Do not shake dirty laundry and soak it in water with detergent immediately to avoid dispersing the virus through the air. Always assume that these clothing articles can bring home the virus from the outside of your home.
Use warm water with soap or detergent when you are washing your clothes. Immediately wash your hands and use alcohol or hand sanitizer after doing the laundry. Laundry bags and hampers also need to be cleaned as frequently as possible.
Handle and prepare food with care. Always treat food deliveries are potential virus carriers. When taking the food, always make sure the person delivering the food is wearing a mask and is also practicing social distancing. Come up with a strategy to not interact directly with the delivery personnel. Set up a box or basket from a distance where they can drop the delivery, so you can retrieve it away from the person who delivered it.
Immediately disinfect the box, but make sure that you are not going to contaminate the food inside it. Immediately dispose of unnecessary packaging. Remove the food from the take-out containers. Place it on a clean plate and immediately dispose of the container.
Always wash your hands after receiving any package. Wash with and water the fruits and food encased in a container or a box.
