Whether you live in Houston or are planning to visit it in near future, keeping an itinerary of the top restaurants is a great idea. This is going to be a spicy and feisty list of the best Indian restaurants in Houston you must visit this year.
Owing to the current changes in schedules of all the cooking places, it’s best to check the opening and closing times of these restaurants before you plan to visit them. And you can always order the food and enjoy it in the comfort of your kitchen.
Thinking of the mouthwatering foods and their menus are so delicious. Pardon me for being carried away by the thoughts of it but I have tried all of the following restaurants. I am a foodie and I would say you should take these recommendations very seriously.
Pondicheri Café
Anita Jaisinghani, the owner, has brought the majestic flavors of her native Sindh culture and blended them with local Texas ingredients. She has crafted a new, organic approach to the Indian restaurant scene.
This restaurant features a diverse menu full of fresh ingredients from local farmers. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner in this innovative café. Breakfast and lunch are served via counter service but most customers enjoy table service for dinner.
Anyone would agree that the best starter is the Papdi Chaat prepared with semolina crackers, lentil dumplings & moong sprouts, all drizzled with yogurt, cilantro & tamarind chutneys. And you can always tell them which ingredient to avoid! An interesting feature on the lunch and dinner menu is the Sayel Lamb. It is a Sindhi style leg of lamb that is slow-cooked with onions, turnips, yogurt, & butternut squash.
If you have children with you, they even offer a kid’s meal called Tuk Tuk Thali. It’s a perfect treat for anyone who enjoys an organic chicken kebab, fresh fruit, spinach, rice, desi fries (potatoes dusted with garam masala spice). And the dessert is nothing but an elephant cookie!
The culinary team at Pondicheri is nothing but the best. It is also known for its clean carbon footprint owing to its practices such as making hand-ground meat and spices, yeast starters prepped for fresh baked goods, farm-fresh eggs purchased from Weimar, TX, and eco-friendly to-go containers called “tiffins”.
Shri Balaji Bhavan
If you have got a love for South Indian Cuisine, Shri Balaji Bhavan is going to be your next favorite place. This place is all about flavor, authenticity, aroma, and warm deliciousness. The casual eatery menu includes an impressive all-vegetarian menu complete with popular dishes like samosa chaat, Rava masala dosa , madras thali, bhel poori, and Nagata pattie.
Most of the entrees have a significant spice factor, but you can always temper the heat of spices with a cool, creamy mango lassi. All dishes are made-to-order, and the result is well worth your wait whether it’s for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. top Indian restaurants in Houston
