IBPS or Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts an RRB exam every year to recruit several candidates for India’s rural banks. It takes thousands of candidates each year and places them at appropriate places in different posts. Since the vacancies are only a few thousand and the aspirants are in lakhs, it creates a highly competitive environment for all. That is why IBPS RRB Cut Off proves to be a significant criterion for preparing for the exam.
The selection process of Officer Scale I, II, and III also include an interview. However, the selection of Officer and Officer Assistant posts are made based on the mains examination scores. First, the RRB results are declared, and then a Cut-Off list is published, based on which the selections are made. Based on this cut-off, you can get an idea of the competition and prepare accordingly.
Factors Affecting the Cut-Off
Cut-Off for IBPS RRB changes every year for each post in different parts of the country. So, you need to check the latest one or the one released last year. Here are a few factors that affect the Cut-Off every time:
Previous Year’s Cut-Off: The cut-off marks decided for the last year’s RRB exam will greatly affect the Cut-Off marks for this year.
Number of Recruitments to Be Done: Higher number of vacancies will make it easier for the candidates to qualify, so the cut-off may be made tougher to give a chance to deserving candidates only.
Number of Applications Received: If the number of applications is too high, it may not be possible for IBPS to accommodate all the aspirants. So, they may decide to make the Cut-Off tougher so that they can shortlist the candidates.
How Difficult Was the Exam: More difficult the exam is, the harder it would be for the candidates to qualify. So, they may decide to make their Cut-Off easier so that deserving candidates can get a fair chance.
